We are settled in Prenzlauerberg, Berlin. We are always happy to talk about design and architecture, drop by our Berlin studio for a cup of coffee. You can find us in the Studio from Monday to Friday between 9:00 to 18:00.
After an intense and competitive bidding process, the construction company of the façade has been decided.
We have worked on a range of projects with renowned firms such as Rafael Viñoly Architects, Foster and Partners, Playze and Link-Arc. The experiences have allowed us to integrate diverse expertise and innovative approaches into our work, enhancing the quality and scope of our projects.
We have worked on a range of projects with renowned firms such as Rafael Viñoly Architects, Foster and Partners, Playze and Link-Arc. The experiences have allowed us to integrate diverse expertise and innovative approaches into our work, enhancing the quality and scope of our projects.
We have been collaborating with Studio Link-arc, LLC and working on one of our largest projects LUHU Cultural Complex, which consists of a theater, an art center and a library. Dedicated to the public life of the city of Shenzhen, the complex responses to the site and its remaining nature, the boundary of the ever-growing city and the society that creates higher and higher demands of culture.
On top of a listed hall, a former storage for the bathtub factory on Moosdorfstrasse in Berlin a prefabricated timber construction was added. A set of four cast in place concrete columns squirm around the listed steel trusses of the previous shed roof, which support the new concrete slab, the foundation of the 3-story-prefabricated timber structure. In close cooperation and constant negotiation with the client, a community of practice dedicated to sharing and shaping collective ventures, large communal flats were created for up to nine adults and eleven children.
The listed former bathtub factory in Kreuzberg in Berlin was converted to a co-working and co-living place. The shed roof was partially raised in order to extend the space upwards and to light up the space from both sides. Do to fire safety regulations the two existing egress stairs had to be accessable from the unit. As a result, the 350 sm sized unit exists of cosy private bedrooms on the sides and a centrally locaded shared living zone, which can be used by different user groups at the same time. The tree shaped timber columns vissually connect the differnent spaces by keeping privacy whenever needed.
Inspired by the notion of being „ moved by wind “, our design is a lightweight architecture which brings a sense of transparency and openness to the densely populated neighborhood. The library reflects the dynamic history of the neighborhood and the unique surface of the site by embedding these existing qualities in its Architectural language. The airy silhouette resembles pages of a book being gently blown by the wind. This gives the architecture a lightweighted, breathing feeling. The motion of air softly moving and passing through the building gives Windborne Pages, its name. This iconography symbolizes the ever-evolving nature of knowledge and culture.
Inspired by the weaving technique, we form a series of open and closed three-dimensional skins, which are both facades and the roof. The weaving naturally forms an undulating and continuous roof, and we let it blend with the earth. The open position of this three-dimensional skin invites people, light and view to the interior. The indoor space consists of three terraces forming a large open space. They are connected to each other by ramps. When people walk on the ramps next to the open skin, they are always between the inside and outside therefore gain a unique spatial experience. When walking and stopping on the roof, people's experience is that of hearing and seeing. The new one makes people linger on the vast and stretching poetic environment of pastoral and mountainous areas. The building’s cascading platforms and partial sunken yard are dealt with consciously to respond to the rich archaeological remains in the region of Weinan and the Central China Plain. This reconciles with the traditional craft of straw-weaving which takes us into the depths of time.
When thinking about reaching the carbon-neutral goal worldwide in 30 years, we have a mission to design every architecture to be artificial element and a part of nature at the same time. With its free flowing yet well-crafted shape, the green ring integrates transportation hub, a busy city intersection with a park, connecting the neighborhoods and creates multiple public spaces. It juxtaposes slow with fast, greenery and high traffic. Its undulating shape originated from the way it interacts with individual neighborhoods at each corner of the intersection. While re-connecting the four communities which were fragmented by the two city drives, the green ring provides bike lanes and pedestrian walkways above and inside. The intention is to encourage the use of bicycles as the primary means of commuting rather than driving. Initially thought of as the problem, the massiveness of the intersection is now an advantage to create the diversity of public spaces around this curvy and free-formed ring. Its ever-changing section shows how it varies its public pro-grams from one to another.
The China Resources Archive interprets the memory and legacy of an enterprise with architectural language - material, space, light and shadows - on a hilly site adjacent to a southern China beach. A series of exterior terraces allows people to enjoy the ocean view. The strong sunlight was treated as a special material during the de-sign process. Grey bricks, as they are transformed from earth thus carry a memory, were used to texturize the building facade and trace the movement of the sun. At the inside, several additional grey tones were used to give the library its tranquility. In contrast with the shades of grey, a vibrant yellow was chosen for specially crafted tiles cladding one of the main interior walls. This tiled wall also receives bright sunlight through the skylight above and creates the high light and a sense of surprise inside the low-profile archive library.
Our founding partners received their design and technical competence from intense working experience across Asia, America, and Europe. We owe our knowledge to the mentors in renowned architectural companies and some of the most challenging projects in the industry.
The theme for the China Pavilion is “The Land of Hope”. The project embodies this through its undulating roof form, derived by merging the prove of a city skyline on the building’s north side with the profile of a landscape on the south side, expressing the idea that hope” can be realized when city and nature exist inharmony. Conceived as a timber structure that references the “raised-beam system found in traditional Chinese architecture, the Pavilion roof also uses modern technology to create long spans appropriate to the building’s public nature. The roof is covered in shingled panels that reference traditional pottery roof construction but are reinterpreted as large bamboo leaves that enhance the roof profile while shading the public spaces below. Designed as layered screens, these panels add texture and depth to the Pavilion’s roof and create evocative light and transparency effects below.
The Sanctuary Berlin is poised to become Berlin's first Italian vegan bakery, blending the rich culinary heritage of Italy with a modern, plant-based ethos. This bakery will offer a unique and welcoming space where customers can indulge in traditional Italian pastries, bread, and desserts, all crafted from vegan ingredients. The project aims to create an inviting, stylish, and sustainable environment that reflects the elegance of Italian design while embracing the vibrant and diverse culture of Berlin.
